How Natural The Dialogue Feels

First, I tested the chat functionality. The chat is how you will interact with these AI companions. I tested casual conversation as well as roleplay. I tried to test how diverse the chat is and how consistent it will remain. This is a test to see how repetitive or realistic the chat is.

Probing for mood and confidence level

I first asked her about her mood, to try to get an initial read. Her response was confident, and slightly sassy. She seemed to already be dictating the nature of our interaction. I wanted to get a feel for the default nature of the personality being displayed by the AI.

Testing tone control and subtle shift

I then asked her to try to tone down the flirting, and try to be a bit more laid back. She actually responded fairly well to this, and without seeming to step out of character. Her demeanor seemed fairly laid back, and at the same time confident.

Testing continuity and conversational flow

I asked her to go back to what she was originally going to say. This was mainly to see how well she could resume. She seemed to resume fairly well and naturally. I tried to keep the conversation fairly flowing.

Visual Output Evaluation

Second, I tested the image generation. Image generation is how the AI companion will be visually represented. Image quality and detail are important as AI companions are becoming more and more prevalent.

I tested a variety of settings to test the consistency and lighting. This is a test of how realistic the AI companion is.

Testing close-up warmth and soft detail

This one is a bit more intimate. I wanted to see how it would do with a relatively low-key indoor portrait. I tried to find a picture where the lighting was softer, and the subject more relaxed. I was more interested in the face and in the overall ‘realness’ of the portrait at close range.

Natural/outdoor realism and lifestyle feel

I wanted to check how the AI model would look in a more outdoor setting. This scene is set in what would seem to be a contemporary living setting and I used it to gauge lighting and realism.

The pose, clothing and overall style convey a cool and confident look which works for the character. It’s a useful gauge for the AI in a lifestyle setting.

How Good Are The AI Videos?

Lastly, I tested the video generation. Video generation is how motion will be integrated into the AI companion. Most AI companions will generate videos from the images. I tested for motion, facial expression, and overall realism. Because I only generated one video, this is more of an initial impression.

Motion & expression test

I performed this test to find out how our AI girl reacts to a still frame image that now has some motion to it. She’s approaching the camera with a soft smile. It’s more intimate and real. The motion is minimal but it already makes the scene look more alive. It allowed me to see how well mild animation helps.
